My dealer told me that the car I'm getting (pre-Sept production) without Nav CANNOT play MP3. He said only the car with Nav can play MP3?
From what I heard in the forum (and same with 3 series also), that it is the other way around? i.e. the one in the non-Nav version can play while the Nav version cannot (until Post Sept production) ??

Your dealer is wrong. Pre-sept production, only cars WITHOUT NAV can play MP3 cd's. There will be a software update in sept-oct that will allow NAV cars to play them.

What about cars scheduled for production in September, mine is slated for this week and it will have Nav, (530Xi) will I receive the update for MP3 capability?

I have heard (no confirmation on this though) that MP3's will only play in the in-dash CD player.
