Thanks for the reports but I would'nt think BMW is very pleased at the fact that the 525, 530 and combining the 545/550's are all down from 04.

2004 525, 1873 units. 2005, 1112 units
2004 530, 2217 units. 2005, 1592 units
2004 545, 1026 units. 2005 545/550, 647 units

Total sales in 12/05 are up:

12/05 6,396 vs. 12/04 5,116

It looks like you forgot to add in the xi and xiT.

I left them out on purpose because they did'nt exist in 04. I was making the point that model for model was down by large margins. 40% on the 525. 25% on the 530 and about 39% on the 545/550.

I think you MUST include them... in reality they are only options. Agreed? Corporately, a 5 series is a 5 series whether it's a wagon or a sedan and whether it has HUD, NAV, all wheel drive or not......

It's a tough comparison - some of the non-xi sales certainly were lost to the xi, and some portion of those would have bought the non-xi's if the xi wasn't available. I was specifically shopping for the 5-series, and opted for the xi because it was available, but would have probably bought a non-xi anyway. If any of this makes sense...
