Wow, that was a really interesting article. If you buy a 5 Series from a Dealer without a Trade in, the Dealer gets an $1800 bonus. Also, the Bonus Program starts with cars Sales AFTER Jan 1, 2006. So, I think this is GREAT News for anyone who is looking for at a 5 Series now or in the near future.

The Bottom Line is no matter how you slice it, A Dealer is now getting an extra $1800 for each 5 Series the Dealership sells. It is irrelevant what the Dealer does with the $1800. The fact that the Dealer gets an additional $1800 means that with every sale there is $1800 more to offset some area of the Expense Sheet. So, whatever price you thought you were going to get from a Dealer, you should get another $1000 to $1500 knocked off, it still allows the Dealer to keep $300 to $800.

Sorry for bursting your bubble, but no such program exists in the US, folks. With the introduction of the 525xi/530xi, 5-series sales have been solid for us in the Northeast. No need for any strong incentives other than good lease programs.

Some dealers here will give a 8% discount on 5-Series, X5, X3, 7-Series etc. but only 5% on 3-Series & 3% on the Mini.
The sales of M-B E-Class in Europe have tanked and BMW are taking the opportunity to push the knife in deeper.
