 ED question?

I'm new to this forum and I'm not sure if this has already been discussed but, I'm currently looking to buy a 550i using the ED option. I saw the pricing guide posted on this thread, but I was wondering if the MSRP price listed for the ED option is the final price? The confidential wholesale price is listed there as well for ED, but two of the dealers I called in my area won't consider anything below the MSRP for ED and say that there is no wholesale price for ED. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks in advance.

You will find many dealers taking this stance. All but one of the dealers in my area would not discount the v8 e60, (545-550). They were willing to deal in the 6 cyl verisons, but not the v8. They told me they get 1 - v8 for every 10 - 6 cyl. cars. It comes down to greed.

I went with Delon in Salem, Or, and he (Jim Cupp) makes a living off of taking sales away from these greedy Portland dealers.

You might want to try the ED discussion forum here and ask for any dealers in your area that are willing to work with you on ED pricing.

Bottom line here... YES you can get a significant discount on the 550..... just have to find the right dealer.

I don't know if this holds true, but for me the better deal came from a dealer in a smaller town. Hungrier maybe? After trying to deal with the local dealer here, and becoming very frustrated, a few emails yielded results in less than an hour.

Find a new dealer- you can easily get $1000 over invoice/wholesale.

It's my understanding thet ED's dont come out of a dealer's allocation, so in theory they should be willing to offer whatever reasonable discount it takes to make the deal, as they are not losing potential profit on one of their allocated cars. The other forums here reveal that indeed it's not hard to find dealers who will discount off of ED list price.

M's and 6 series DO come out of dealer allocation for ED. Hot new cars like the E90 convertible will also come out of allocation for at least a little while.
