Need some feedback. I have a 550 on order, due in another couple weeks. Not fully realizing the difference in quality between the base system and the Logic system, I opted to not go with the Logic7 system (unfortunately I only discovered this site - and all of the glowing feedback of the Logic7 system - last week otherwise would have gone with it system at the time of purchase). Tried my dealer to see if it could be added late but they said no b/c the car is already well into production. All that said, is anyone familar whether the Logic7 system can be added after the fact, and if not any suggestions for reasonably priced alternatives??? Thanks.

If you don't have Logic 7 installed - adding an equal quality system aftermarket is very expensive - $4-6K. You'd have to replace your existing amp or new speakers may make your system sound even worse. Your best bet (assuming you continue with your current build - which you can change of course), may be to add a simple after market sub woofer - and keep your existing speaker/amp set up.
I'm sure you'll get a post from someone more qualified in audio - and you can also search the audio forum.

Like credit777 said, a comparable sounding aftermarket system will cost you thousands more than the price of the premium audio option. It really is a great system and worth ordering a new car if you have the time to wait for a new car to be built. Even if you're not an audiophile I think you will sorely miss the L7 if you pass on it. Congrats on the 550i!

Logic7 is the best OEM sound system I've heard, and I've owned many high end cars. Because of the MOST bus, adding aftermarket components is difficult and expensive. If you really like to listen to high quality music, I'd also suggest considering ordering a new car.

The Logic 7 system sounded incredible in the 550 I test drove. However...
1. I have never listened to a car without it
2. Now that I have it, it is very boomy - I've got the base turned down on the eq and I'm still getting too much low end. The 6 disc cd changer is also a joke - try and find that thing in the glove box!
I'm guessing that you listened to a non-logic 7 system and found it fine. If that is the case then you just saved yourself almost $2K.
