 Touch Up paint

Well, it happened! I was hand washing and applying ReJex to the front bumber when I realized the paint on one of the Parktronic sensors was clipped! Of course, being that I only have 726 miles on the 530i, I spent the next twenty minutes doing my best rendition of "CSI" - "How could this have happened?", "What was the motivation?"

Once I came back to reality I realized it was a rather small chip on the edge of the sensor that one will only notice if they really look.

However, I also realized that I wasn't given touch-up paint that manufactures sometimes include with new cars. I also noticed that many BMW parts sites don't offer either. Is touch-up work passe' for the average BMW owner (I don't know, this is my first)? Or, am I not looking in the right place?

lol, no BMW does make touch-up paint. I used it on a pretty big scratch that I got on my car the first week . The BMW touch up paint works pretty well. I am not sure if you can get it from your local dealers service dept. because I ordered mine from Bavarian Autosport at bavauto.com

Good luck-

Hey e60lover

Thanks for the fb! Glad to know I'm not the only one on the forum not looking to run to a repair shop after the first scratch!

I'm goin to try bavauto.com

I know the feeling. There is a touch up paint sold at the dealer in the service deparment. The brand is Auto Sharp Pen. Here's a toll free number if you want to call them direct and give them your color. Read the instructions carefully and make sure the you dab the tip on a piece of paper before touching up the car. Also clean the surface with alchohol before touching up to remove any wax and dirt. It works great.

Dealers also carry the nail-polish style bottles with brushes.

Yeah, the nail polish type is the one that I suggested from Bavarian Autosport. It is made by BMW.
