Does anybody know of a reputable car transport company? I'm moving from New York to LA in the new year and I've heard nothing but bad stories of car transport companies. Has anyone had a good experience with a particular company? How much did it cost? How long did it take? |

I used Passport (owned by FedEx) to move a BOSS 302 Mustang from Florida to CA, $1700. Not the cheapest, but this particular BOSS was a low mile near flawless original paint car & I couldn't take any chances. 100% professional all the way.

If I had to move my BMW, I'd use them again. Save a couple hundred? No way. Save a paint match issue that lasts the life of a car? Yep. Going with the best.

Thanks for the lead. Didn't know FedEx was in the business, but it makes sence. I'm going to call them.

I've used Horseless Carriage to transport my Porsches several times with great results. InterCity Lines is also very good (they transport most Porsches to dealers, and are the exclusive transporter for the Carrera GT). Do not skimp on transporting your car--only use a top tier company that uses true enclosed trailers, and request a top load. With Barrett-Jackson coming up in January, I'd suggest you make a reservation soon because all the top ties transporters will be tied up for a few weeks. Cross country should be just under $2,000.

Yep, forgot to mention the details noted above. Passport used a hard side enclosed carrier with my car, and I did request top load (eliminates possibility of accidental leaks from vehicles above). The two additional carriers mentioned are also popular choices among collectors of fine automobiles.

I moved my 2004 330Ci with Dependable Auto Shippers.
Passport was professional, communicated well, was on time, and the car was perfect.
DAS was unprofessional, communicated poorly, was 18 days late, lied every step of the way, rubbed my Titanium Silver car against a red car (obvious rub) and then weaseled their way out of responsibility leaving me with the bill.
To hell with DAS.
