 Couple questions

I just drove 1800 miles with my 2006 530xiT visiting family and have a couple findings i would like to share.

Driving mainly interstate, between 80-90 mph, i got 26.3 mpg (using mainly cruise control), not bad at all, since we had to go several times up to 6000 feet. Love the fact you can increase/decrease your cruise control speed by either 1 or 5 miles (depending on how far you push the lever)

Why does the clock in the car not automatically adjust timezones/dst?? I own a Mercedes that has always the correct time (never have to adjust daylight savingstime etc.). Both cars have GPS, and i believe the current time is part of GPS....

Is there a way to turn on the rear seat lights from the drivers seat?

This is interesting; sit in the car (without the keys in the ignestion ), lock the car with the remote (doors will lock), move the key close to the ignestion, and voila, the doors will unlock...) shows you that the chip in the key does not to be in physical contact with the car in order to transmit data)

26+ mpg at the speeds I like to travel -- with awd. Awesome!! Our 3.2 liter Benz wagon will average 24-25 at normal highway speeds (wife's car), and I'd be shocked if it came in higher at greater speed. Even though .2 liters larger, hers should get better mileage when considering 2wd.

On the time change, maybe there's a setting option to allow this? You're right, there is a time component to GPS, but maybe BMW didn't interface the clock with nav. Too bad if they didn't -- it is a nice feature in the Benz.

6-8 weeks for my delivery.................!

Over T-Giving week I took a trip with my 2 month old xiT of exactly the same length and agree with your findings. I averaged 27.2 mpg for the whole trip (3 adults with lots of luggage) which included quite a bit of city driving and highway speeds of 70-80 mph.

Good question about the clock. Although I have 5k miles, I haven't driven out of my time zone to check it.

To my knowledge, the driver can't control the rear seat lights. I also tried.

Didn't know about the key trick.

I love the car and find it to be the best all-around vehicle I've owned...especially great for trips. My son with the 325 put about 300 miles on it over the past week and said it's as much fun to drive as his (except for the Step). At no time did he feel like he was driving a wagon.

Continue to enjoy it.
