On the E60 Forum they've got a thread about problems with the style 124 wheels cracking. And by cracking, I mean severely cracking. The inner part has separated from the rim area. Have any of you had this happen or know more about it?
That can be a scary thing - and a very dangerous thing - to have happen while driving.

So none of you have heard of this? Or experienced it?
Here's where I heard about it:

http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=6523 | I had not heard of this so thanks for the pointer. That is really, really disturbing. Rims should not split in two like that, especially with minor impacts.
As widespread as this appears to be it's likely defective design or production. I'm hoping this is something that only shows up in the earlier production runs but I'm not so sure. Given BMW says "they are aware of the situation" let's hope something is done about it.
I'm surprised the wheels even stay together. That must be a testament to the durability and strength of the runflats.
