First post on here and already a question!
The girlfriend purchased a 2004 525i this month... Idrive, sport package, etc. ( This car is sweet!) Only problem is, I need to know a few more facts about adding the cd changer. I purchased a new changer and it has the bracket, screws etc, looks straight forward enough.
I searched the forum but still have a few questions.
The plug inside the glovebox only has two wires. I plugged this into the changer, the changer appears to function. Are there another pair of wires I am missing? Seems odd that sound and power would only need two wires. I rummaged around the harnesses but did not find any other plugs/free cables.
Does the Idrive/fenderbendercreator system need an update to recognize the cd changer?

Not a software update per se but an update to let the car know that the CD Changer is now installed. Similar process as a software update but does not require updating of your software merely an activation of a feature.
I believe that there is only a single plug/wiring harness for the changer.

Yeah, the plug I found is the only thing that goes in the receptacle on the back of the changer, but there are four other places in the plug itself, that could have wires inserted (empty). The plug has a large hole that looks like it could have a second plug inserted.
The changer came with a double barreled insert that can go inside the plug to recieve/lockdown another plug or wires. Option?
I just wanted to be sure that I didn't miss anything before the car goes into the dealer for the Idrive work.

Finally got off my lazy butt, went to the dealer. Guy at the counter found a manual on a BMW parts website. 15 pages! Very detailed.
I am a meathead. I didn't realize the extra spot in the changer plug is for fiber optic.

Hi,
I wonder if it would be possible to add the optical input from a mp3 player on the Cd-changer connections ?
Is your 15p manual somehow available on a forum or by e-mail ?
