Anyone ever heard of a windshield cracking after 3 days of driving? I picked up my 530xi with 4 miles on it at the dealership last week and the windshield developed a crack about 6 inches up on the drivers side. The 4" initial crack went horizontally from the under the left moulding and then grew day by day vertically to 10". I should add that the night it cracked the temp was @ 10 degrees F.
The dealership replaced the windshield today but I'm wondering if it was just a bad piece of glass or couls something be structurally wrong with my car. Any insite?

Any insite? | I suspect it had a hairline crack when they installed it. Got passed QA. Driving the car exacerbated the crack. I doubt anything is wrong with your car.

A friend of mine had the same thing happen with an new 04' 525 - the dealer replaced and no problems since then - as said above, probably just a hairline that slipped by QA.

My 2004 525 windshield cracked after about a year of use.
Crack started at roof line to left of rear view mirror, went down horizontally below mirror, and then started back up again on passenger side.
Dealer replaced it on warranty, no problem.
