Hello,
I have never owned a BMW until two months ago when I traded in my '02 Lexus IS 300 for an '06 530i with Sport Package. I love the car and the BMW 'experience'; however, I am wondering about the following:
- Is there really no built-in compass? My Lexus had a built-in one on the rear-view mirror. This seems like a no-brainer, but maybe I'm missing something about the BMW ideology (e.g., we don't need no stinking compass).

It is relegated to the Nav. Or, you can get a dealer installed one, requiring a whole new rear-view mirror.

My 2006 330i came with a compass.

Thank you for the reply. That was my guess....that it was part of the Nav pkg.
Call me naive, but it seems silly that BMW wouldn't make this standard with the rear view mirror. It probably comes down to supply chain politics (i.e., the rear view mirrors with built-in compass are sourced from Taiwan or something).

Now, my 2005 545 with Nav has no compass on the rear view mirror.
