 E60 Navigation System

This past week I traded in my 2004 330Ci (with Nav) for a 2006 550i (with Nav). Obviously the navigation system is completely different.

I had installed the "v26" update on my MkIV (on my 330Ci) and it looked fantastic. The new 550i has the old, v25-appearance -- specifically the lack of anti-aliased fonts. A friend of mine test drove a 2006 750i today and that car's navigation system had the "v26-style" appearance too it. I'm presuming there is an update I can tell the dealer to apply, but right now I don't even know what to ask for. It appears that instead of just updating the navigation system, you instead update the entire car? I've seen references to CIP software, although I'm not sure if this is what drives the Navigation system as well. Is there any way to check software version(s)?

Can anyone point me to a good resource (another tread, another website), or tell me the "magic words" to tell my dealer's service team so I can get the beauty of the v26-style navigation back? I feel like the nav looks so hokey when compared to my 2 year old 330Ci (after the v26 upgrade, of course).

Or is this just something I am going to have to get use to?

Thanks..

I wish I could help but for the E60 the entire car gets updated, not just the NAV system. Since you have an '06 550i, you probably have something close to the latest and greatest. The next CIP version is due out in a month or so and the version number will be 20. If you need more details, try the E60 forums at www.e60.net - and please keep us posted as to what you find out.

Ok, fair enough. So in the new cars, the whole car gets updates, and the CIP software drives this. Out of curiousity, what does CIP stand for?

Have you (or anyone else, chime in) seen what I am talking about? The 750i Nav (and the 330Ci v26 Nav) looked 3x better than my 550i Nav.
