When is the first oil change
My 06 525i just rolled 7k miles, the iDrive says to change the oil at 7k so I called my local dealer for an appointment. I am told that I only need to have the oil topped off and that the oil/filter change should not happen until 12k miles or 12 months. Does anybody know if they pulling a wool over my eyes or is this true?  | | Reply » When is the first oil change |

Does anybody know if they pulling a wool over my eyes or is this true? | Usually the service indicator tells you how many miles left until service is required, so the iDrive is probably saying that you need service in an additional 7k miles. The normal service life of oil in an E60 is about 12-15k miles. You also get an oil change once a year regardless of the service indicator.
It will also tell you when you need to have the oil topped off, and that is something you can easily do yourself and don't need to visit the dealer for (unless you don't have a spare quart of the correct synthetic oil).
