BMW Group vehicle sales this August were up a significant 17.9% when compared to last August. However, YTD sales for the first 8 months of 2005 were up only 4.3%.
Sales of the X Series re-bounded this month and were up 20.7% when compared to last August while car sales were up 12.7% relative to August, 2004 as the 5 and 7 Series had a strong month.
Sales of the BMW brand were up 15.2% this month when compared to last August.
Total MB sales of 19,267 units this month increased 7.1% when compared to the total of 17,984 sold last August. YTD 2005 sales for MB are down 1.0%. MB sales would have been much lower save for introduction of the 2006 M Class in April and YTD sales of the SLK. Sales of the M Class were up 50.9% when compared to August, 2004 while YTD sales of the SLK were up 178.6%.
