According to a guy in the UK there is a 540 avaliable with 306HP. That would be a nice fit between 530 and 550 huh?

What I would really love to happen is the rumored displacement increase in the 3.0 liter engine to 3.5. If they could get to ~ 300hp out of a six cylinder engine, I would think this would be the perfect car. The 3.0 turbo sounds interesting, but I have a feeling it will not make it to the US in the 5-Series. My best guess is the US engine selection in the 5 series will not change for several years since they are all very new engines.

I don't think we'll ever see the 540i in the US, but a faster inline 6 is a very real possibility. The 540i is marketed to those countries whose car tax is based on engine displacement.
