I am going to go take a test drive this weekend. Just as a ballpark what have people been paying over invoice for these? Just want to keep the dealer honest...

I ordered one from a dealer in NJ two weeks ago. I will be leasing it. The 530xi listed at $59415 and I got it $56450. Other dealers in my area were offering the car for right around $57k. Sorry I don't have the invoice price in front of me but hopefully this will help.

Paid $57 on 596 sticker, could have probably have gone lower, but had a bad week at work and very busy, needed the car sooner rather than later. I dealt with King in Freehold, but Circle BMW was near those prices. Most will go down at least 3.5%, or what they consider half of the their 7%markup. There are some attractive lease deals out right now for all 5's. Mine happens to be the wagon version, but you might have better luck with less on the sedan since there are more of them to move on the lots. Good luck

As you get closer to year end, you get a much higher level of competition, especially if there are several dealers in a relatively close area. I bought my 530xi a week ago today, and the salesman was already thinking about the annual numbers and the competition for which dealers sold the most cars in the Boston area...just another piece of the deal puzzle!!
The best deal I ever got was on my first Mercedes – bought it December 29 and they were practically begging me to buy it!! It was a next year model (a 1998 in December 1997) right in the showroom and I got it basically at about dealer cost.
I was actually going to wait another week to buy the 530xi, but when I saw this one I wanted to get it.
