I have a 2003 530i black/black prem w/ premium sound. I have 8 months left on the lease and I have 41000 miles w/ 45000 total (oops). I can buy it out for 31500 today or 750 a month for 4 years. haven't fallen in love with the new style. this is my third 5 series in a row so i obvioulsy like the old style and i have an x5 so i love the product. my car is in great shape plus i have 4 snow tires. my question.....
would you keep the 530 and pay it off or wait until the lease is up and lease a new 530? i assume for 15000 miles a year the lease payment is about $700 with no money down.

If you love the product and drive 15K per year - then lease it. Get a new one every three years - and never worry about maintenence.

Get the 06 and start over again. You can probably get a lease payment of less than 700 a month esp if you do European Delivery.
Check out the Ask a Dealer forum for the current lease rates for BMW's and start doing some calculations.
I'm leasing a 2005 545 fully loaded except for comfort seats for less than 700 a month. Great lease deals on the 545is back in Jan-July 2005 and with the ED Discount, it's a no-brainer!

The fact that I turn over cars about every 3-4 years or so has always made me want to lease…but I've always stayed away from leasing because I drive about 15,000-18,000 miles each year. But I’ve also heard some really bad stories about what was considered “normal wear and tear” at the end of a lease…and people getting told they owed up to several thousand dollars for excessive wear and tear, in addition to miles – to the point where a buddy of mine bought his car at the end rather than cough up the money (the car seemed to be in good shape to me after 3 years of use!)…anybody have any experience with that?

I was in the exact same boat as you...I have a 330cic comming off lease, was dead set on a 2003 cpo 5, drove a few of them and wasn't totally thrilled with the condition of them, then started looking at the new 330 ( still a little small for me)....andf finally took a hard look at the new E60 and that's what I ended up leasing. The car will grow on you, it did for me.. Credit777 says it best....new car every three years- no maintenance worries...
