Cell phone cradle - worth $444?

Today I had my dealer install the center console cradle for my Moto V710 cellphone. Cost was $294.24 for parts and $150.00 for labor - total $444.25

It does work - the phone charges correctly, and yet still uses BT to interface with the E60. BTW, my Verizon V710 supports full functionality, including address book, signal strength, hands-free, etc. (both before and after the cradle install).

So what did I gain with this: (1) a nice secure place to hold my cell phone, (2) it charges the battery, and (3) I've observed one bar of improved signal using the external antenna.

Yes, it seems to work. Overall I don't think its worth the price. I do however drive in remote areas with minimal or no coverage so perhaps the "one bar" improved signal will prove its worth.

I also was not sure if it is worth the price- so I opted not to get it. I figure that if something happens where I don't get a phone signal than I can use Assist which uses the shark fin.

pilotsteve just right on. i did not get the cradle but hooked my old motorola cradle up the the shark fin anfd power. in some parts of seattle my signal when down so far i lost phone service. i have replaced the shark fins with a cell antenna and now have full carrier signal. plus i saved the $300-500.
