I have only had my 530i 2006 for a week. I went to a birthday party and someone stole my coat with my keys in it. I hadn't had a chance to go through the manuals and actually take my second set of keys out of my car.
Since I knew there was a second set of keys in the car, we tried to unlock the vehicle. They used some device and were able to hit the unlock button on the dash but immediately upon hitting the button it would lock again. I was real nervous because this was a brand new car and I didn't want it damage but I also did not want the people who stole my coat to realize that inside my pocket was a key to a brand new BMW. After several attempts I ended up calling roadside assistance. Roadside assistance said the only thing they could do was to have it towed to the nearest BMW dealership and then I order keys from Germany. I agreed since it would be safer at the dealership.
When they tried to tow the vehicle it was literally impossible since we couldn't get in the car the wheels would not turn. They said they would have to drag it. I said I did not want that done since they could possibly damage my vehicle. Fortunately the tow truck driver was very knowlegable anf friendly he said he could try to get the device to unlock the wheels. He did it and got it on the flat bed.
I was disappointed that roadside assistance wanted to drag the vehicle to the nearest bmw dealership they didn't seem concerned with the possible problems.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get keys from Germany? Do you think the dealership can get into the vehicle?

Lost my spare key in the New Orleans flooding. Dealer here in Houston took three days to get a new key made and sent to me.

I'm guessing you didn't get comfort access. I have heard it is impossible to lock a set of keys in the car with that.

$99 but he initially quoted me something like $134, but he "gave me a deal"...
