New, Lost, and Confused...
Hi! I'm new to this forum. I've read it for months now, and have really enjoyed the wisdom you have all passed on. Thank you! But I've come at a point where I finally have to ask for some serious advice. I bought a new 2004 545iA, pretty much loaded except the HUD. The tire noise grates on me like there's no tomrrow. I love my car, it's got 20k on there, and yes, they've replaced the tires TWICE and still the problem won't go away. In addition, I've stalled, yes, STALLED in the middle of the street (thank god no oncoming traffic) and I turned the key off and had to restart the car to get moving. Not once, like 3 times total. I can live with the iDrive issues, and learned to love it. But I'm at a crossing now. I'm considering buying the new 2006 330I. I'm looking to order it with the same exact options, minus the comfort seats (not avail on 3) plus the comfort access (wasn't avail for 5 early on). People think I'm silly to "downgrade" but my 5's got so many small problems (ac turns on by itself when i turn it off, window/door squeaking>) I almost (sad to say, ran to the local Lexus dealer> to buy a car After test driving, BMW IS THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE!! I'm afraid to order another 5, for fear of the same problems I may have (needless to say, I'm not a fan of the design, I like the 3 much better). Please tell me what you guys would suggest?! THANK YOU!! | | Reply » New, Lost, and Confused... | Quote: Hi! I'm new to this forum. I've read it for months now, and have really enjoyed the wisdom you have all passed on. Thank you! THANK YOU!! | Well, My .02 is that you have an early car from the first year of the E60. Buying an E90 will put you in the same boat as this is its first year. I suggest getting a new E60 as they've worked out 99% of the kinks and the car is as close to perfect as you can get for a sport sedan.

| | Reply » New, Lost, and Confused... | Hmmm... I was thinking about that, but a couple of things lead me to believe I may be better off in the 3. They said I couldn't get the 545I anymore. When I had the 5, its quite big (I'm not so short, but not model tall either) so I've always worried about parking (I have PDC but it's still limited) as to how much to roll forward and back up. And that power, gets me into trouble. I find myself racing on the streets of socal through the hills of Anaheim with these "kids" in fixed up Hondas/Acuras. I've read reviews and the 3 series forum, and found people didn't have as much problems since the 3 didnt have everything connected to the iDrive, and the engine has been well tested. I love luxury, but I think I'm a closet speed demon / wannabe racer. I hate hemming and hawing, but I wanted to make this my car for 6-7 years like my previous 528iA. I thought I'd make a drastic change from Orient Blue / Blk, to Arctic Metallic / Blk. I do fear the whole RFT with the car since I've had 3 sets of new DUNLOPS, and within 5k the noise is so loud, you can hear it with the windows rolled up, music playing (not blasting), and people laugh at me because I paid 62k and it's noisy. Much opinions are appreciated! Thanks!
