 5-Series Software Update

Good news! I just had the software update on my 530xiT installed and not only does it cure the "High Battery Drain" warning, but it's now no longer necessary to push the iDrive controller to get past that initial "Warning" screen. It disappears after 5-10 seconds and goes right to the iDrive menu. I haven't discovered any other changes as of yet.

Hi, saw your message on the roadfly board also. Are you saying that if you don't take any action after you start the car, the lawyer screen automatically disappears? Seems counterintuitive to their reasons for creating the screen.

It hard to believe that's something that's happening by design. What CIP version did they install? Is the "accept" icon still on the screen?

That's great news. I'm taking my '06 530i in Monday for the "High Battery Drain" problem. My service advisor claimed she hadn't heard about the problem but now I can tell her it's a software issue. Thanks!

So now, everybody has me thinking that I'm hallucinating (more like delusional, actually), so I just went out and turned the key to position 1.....voila, after exactly 11 seconds, it was gone!! Yes, the "Accept" is still at the bottom of the screen. I guess it's there so you can exit the screen quicker than 11 seconds if you choose.

Thanks for this great info. I will check with my client advisor and see hopefully he will know something about this. I just took delivery of my 2006 530xi only 2 weeks ago, so am not sure if it has the latest update or not.
