So now I'd like to hear from all of those people who have been whining & predicting the demise of BMW due to styling and iDrive. Interesting how iDrive is now being copied by other manufacturers. Oh, and by the way, have you noticed the rear end on the new Lexus IS? Looks familiar, doesn't it?

Good point, Tcoz. Like I've always said in these "Bangle bashing" threads about how ugly the redesigns are...the proof is in the pudding and BMWs sales figures are setting records.
I respect the designers at BMW for taking chances....even if I think the results are less than stellar. (i.e.: I think the Z4 could be SO much better looking....... the new SLK)

So, 5,180 E60s sold vs. 3,884 MB E Class units sold. Looks like BMW kicked butt.

Anytime you do something different, something against the grain, you will get a certain amount of pushback. BMW suffered its share, fer sher. But - I've always admired the fact that BMW took a progressive direction with their auto styling starting in 2002. When most other brands took a conservative (egg-looking) approach - BMW seemed the only brand to continue innovating in automotive design.

Even Cadillac has to get some credit for their "transformer-looking" car styling. I don't like it, really...but it's progressive.
