Anyone know exactly what comfort access gives you, and why there is a $500.00 difference for this between a 3series and a 5 series? All other options on these cars are priced the same.

I'd like to know the same thing. I would have bought it for $500, but passed on it for a grand.

Comfort Access allows you by keeping the key fob in your pocket or purse to unlock the driver's door by touching the handle and to start the car by pushing the button on the dash. Without Comfort Access you have to insert the fob into a slot on the dash and push the button to start the car. Convenience for "only" $500 for the 3 series and $1000 for the 5 series. Despite the difference in price, there is absolutely no difference between Comfort Access in the 3 and 5 series. BMW sure knows how to nickel and dime us!

You can start the car with the keys in your pocket. Yeah, that's worth a premium price.

BMW is just following what other luxury carmakers such as Lexus are doing. Lexus has the Smart Key for about $1000. Now BMW has Comfort Access.

...seems like the 3 series is being subsidized yet again, first they give away L7 for free and now CA for 500 less...damn, BMW sure is taking advantage of 5/6/7 owners
