Unfortunately, SMG is only available on the 550i for us Canadians.

The brochures aren't always kept up to date with the latest build updates. But then again, not every sales rep knows all the answers to every question. More often than not, they talk out of their ass. Then once they actually do go check, they come back and tell you another story. So whoever you asked may have just assumed without looking into it. But let's not dwell on that.
I placed my 530xi order 3 days ago, because I could not get SMG on the 530i any longer. When I first was looking into the 530i/550i back in early October, SMG was an available option. But that seems to have changed now. Who knows, maybe your sales rep is able to pull a few strings here and there.
