I am looking into leasing a 2006 530i in the SoCal area for my wife. I would like your feedback on whether I should get the Sport Package option for her. She is not an aggressive driver. Other than the Lexus SUV that we have, she has never driven any car more than 200 hp. Please help me understand if we would be missing something critical if we do not get the Sport package.

Not having the sports package isn't going to be a big deal in your lease payment - but the easiest way is to have HER drive both cars. Call your salesperson in advance and tell her you'd like to drive each (back to back) for about an hour - just you and wife. Pick out some fun route and make an afternoon of it. Have lunch and talk about the differences while they're still fresh.
Then select your car - and place your order!
Have fun.
By the way - she'll want the sports package. I'm a fortuneteller

There are times that I wish I got the sport package and then there are times that I'm glad I didn't....its weird....

I should have gotten the sports package with the larger rims and wider tires for my 530xi. If I were in CA, I would get the 530i with the Sports Package, no doubt about it. Besides you will want to drive the car sometimes too!

Thank you all for your help. After test driving with and without the sport package as recommended we decided to get the non-sport version. We are picking up the car later this afternoon. I will post more information on the deal later. The information on this board has been very helpful for me. Thanks.

if it not too later get the SP. the handling can no be really realized in one drive. i first drove a 545 in april 05 and it did not feel any better than my 330cic with sport. now that i finnaly bought a 545 in oct 05 and have now driven 1300 miles i realized how wrong i was on the first 545. its the best handling car i've ever had.
