Does anyone know how to install hardware/software to get the TV/DVD to work on the front screen. At least, where to buy the stuff. I know a guy (i found the article on google) that has put a TV tuner (and i think DVD player too) in his 3 series touring to have the possibility to watch tv, dvd in his car.....just like in europe. Anyone have any info? thanks.

No, but what a great idea! Watching t.v. while you're driving.

Here is the site:

That's what the guy created with his bimmer. BTW, I was on X3 world last night, and saw this:

The picture is from the first website....TV on nav. I know that's an available option in europe, but not in NA. anyone know if it's illegal to install it?

There is plenty of stuff for the E39 but I'm not sure yet about the E60. Probably a lot of the firms that handle the E39 will soon if not already being doing the E60. Do a search here or on the E39 board for "nav tv" and you'll hit a lot of stuff.

Anyway, from my understanding if you go with a tvandnav2go setup, it will basically be a “video 1, video 2” option, meaning it won’t be integrated with iDrive controls. You will only be able to use remote control to interact with the tv/nav.
Currently i haven’t heard anything about a aftermarket tv/nav option for e60. the iDrive setup uses fiber optic and it’s entirely different from any non-e60 models, so don’t even try to ‘plug and play’ a e39 setup.
There’s however an ipod adaptor which is integrated with iDrive according to a local shop (kinda like pimp my ride shop) referred by my bmw dealership – benchmark motoring. My dealer mentioned that it’s probable that bmw will offer this option by EOY.
Let me know if you find out more about this. I don’t have nav, and am def. interested in having a tv, dvd, nav setup…Good luck!

Try Al & Ed's Autosound in West Hollywood, CA...310.854.5454...I recently discussed doing this with my new 5-series wagon...they also mentioned they could put a camera in the back so I can see what is behind me when I put it in reverse!
