Would you choose a New 06 525 vs a used 05 530 with 15,000 miles?
How do you think the New 525 BMW stacks up against a used 05 530? I have noticed that a New 525 and a used 05 530 with about 15,000 miles, give or take in either direction, are similar in price, given equal options. The New 525 now has 215 horsepower and the new BMW engine. The 05 530 has the previous engine and 225 horsepower. I think if I was choosing between the two, all things being equal, I would go with the new 525.
Please understand that is not to say the 05 530 is not a great car. It is an AWESOME car with awesome power. I am just saying if you were buying now, and your choices were a New 05 525 or a used BMW 05 530 with 15,000 miles and equal options, which would you choose?

keep in mind that the 525 has much less torque than the old 530-- 185 vs 215, iirc. So, drive them both and see if htat makes a difference to you or not. Also, what is the price differential? Depending on the deal you get, buying the used car could be smarter in the long term because you're exposed to less depreciation. Of course, if you were to pay asking price for a CPO car from a BMW dealer you'd paying roughly as much a new BMW.

With the 530, you're stuck with I-Drive and a host of other related issues. The old engine was great but why not take the new instead.

Is the 530 certified? Make sure you find out - if it is, then I'd suggest the 530 (I assume you are looking to buy). Its a beefier car and in a few months both will "feel" the same age, but the 530 will perform better.
What kind of options are you looking at on the 530?

The options I would love to have are: sport package, premium package, xeons, navigation, rear seat fold down, automatic (must for me, city driving), rear side airbags if beneficial, premium sound if beneficial.
