 Voice Entry of Navigation Destinations

So this probably something that's been known for a while. I just discovered over the weekend that we can enter navigation destinations solely with voice commands including State, City and Street. I remember reading a review of the Acura RL that does it and thinking "I wish my e60 did that." Now, it turns out that it does.

Did everyone else know this? Am I that unfamiliar with what my car can do? By the way, has anyone figured out what that big silver spinner inbetween the front seat is for?

I think its a failsafe in case the voice commands don't work I haven't tried voice entry on the NAV, I'll have to do that!
