550i owners, I give my respect.
I was at the second day of the local carshow, and BMW had set up a BMW Driving Experience booth where they had about 8 or 9 cars that you could test drive. I wanted to drive a 6er but one of the tires went flat, so the next best thing was a 550i. Man that car is fast. Really fast... "Get you in trouble" fast. It was an automatic but I took full advantage of the steptronic. What a car. The motor seems so dossile at low speeds, and stays composed at 6000, but just takes you away when you get on it, with each gear building more and more speed. It is amazing how quiet it is a triple digit speeds. I understand many people's gripe about I-Drive, as I couldnt figure out how the radio works, but I'm shure it is good once you learn it.

I was just at my dealer in Newport Beach and the M5 on the showroom floor stickered at $96k but the "Market Adjusted" price was $121k. The M5 can be had just about anywhere in the country for sticker and they're asking $25k over and getting it. I watched the last guy to pay $25k over at the dealer drive away in his new M5 - he said he'd return later to pick up the car he arrived in - a new f430 with paper plates! Ah the life....

Ah the life.... | My dealer has 3 M5's in stock, I don't suspect there is a premium on them, at least not $25k.
it's funny, another post was talking about the old 330 vs. 530 argument and how the extra 10k is not worth it.
Now we compare a 550 to an M5 at nearly double the price with premium markup and they seem to roll off the lot without a problem.
The 550 is looking like a hell of a deal about now.
