Could anyone tell me if the 5 series has this feature and how it works. ie will it light the area in front when you are walking up to the car? Cheers I'm about to order a 520d M sport after I look at the new lexus IS  |

My US '05 545i has it, but don't know if it's standard on all models in all countries. FWIW--I've never used it, other than testing when I first took delivery, on this and a few other cars.

When you come up to the car will it light up ahead so you can see where you are goin in the dark?

Not when you approach the car--there are puddle lights on the side view mirrors which light up when you unlock the car.
