please indicate your average mpg. i am trying to compare notes with other wagon owners. my stop and go cold engine driving is providing me with horrid gas mileage. 13-14 mpg. just want to see if anyone else is experiencing the same. of note is the fact that the curb weight of the xi t exceeds that of a standard 530 i sedan by 387 lbs. about 10%.

;-)
What area of Portland are you in? Specifically, are you driving up/down hills or in the flatlands?

I grew up mostly in West Linn, though I lived in NW Portland for a while.

Wagonman, bad news. My ED 530xit is about two weeks younger than yours and my driving is completely the opposite; mostly longer trips- even my 4 mile morning commute is all interstate. I drive like the proverbial old lady and live at 8500 ft .
I am amazed at my gas mileage. Close to 30 mpg on long trips (several at 80 mph) and averaging over 26 mpg day to day. All of this is based on the car's "car data" numbers so take it for what it is worth.
Sorry to hear of your troubles, sounds like you are at the nightmare end of "city" driving. Good luck.
