I've had several of my cd's (compact discs) crack while in the dashboard of the car. No idea why. This never happened in my Corolla.
In addition, the telephone end of my telephone charger melted.

I'd go get that checked ASAP! I've owned my car for over 18 months and have never had a CD crack or my phone/radar detector plug melt! Something is not right and is generating way too much heat in you center console area.

called my dealership and they didn't sound too helpful.
The last thing I want is my car going up in flames.
I guess I'm being rather "paranoid" for lack of a better word

You're in Arizona!! You seriously thinking this is a BMW issue? Perhaps the windshield is designed as a lupe? Good one.

Pine Bluff is in Arkansas, not Arizona. However, that is besides the point.
Your dash is obviously exposed to direct sunlight. How do you think BMW is going to respond to this?? It isn't their problem, unless your dash is hot to the touch and you sense it could be an electrical issue?
Am I missing something here?
