 New 545i Sport with Bridgestones

My dealer has a new 2005 545i sport, they just got in. Has to be one the last made. Anyway it has Bridgestone Run Flats instead of the Dunlops.

Anybody out there have any experience with these tires. Did BMW switch to these because of the Dunlop problems. I wonder if all the new 550 Sports will have these over the Dunlops.

This cars last five of the VIN is 68267. Thsi has to be one of the last.

I believe the Dunlops were fixed as of a certain date (earlier this year). I have 8600 on my Dunlop RFs and they are fine.

BMW often has 2-3 tire manufacturers to pull tires from...any smart company knows to never have only one vendor for a critical part in your chain....

I understand about the multiple manufacturers but I have never seen nor heard of anyone having anything other than DUNLOPS on their 545 sport.

I take it you don't watch F-1 racing?

No, I don't...didn't Michelin screw that one up royally?

Racing and providing tires for your bread-n-butter public are two different beasts.

For E39s, they would come with a mix of Michelin, Continental, and Dunlop as I recall. However, it is true that Dunlop is all I've heard the E60s sport packages are getting...dunno about the rest of the E60 fleet.

My 12/2004 build 545 Sport came with Bridgestones. They seem to be OK so far. Very good in rain.
