Engine Seizure
After traveling 4 feet on a 12 inch deep flooded street my engine seized. The dealer is replacing the entire engine. Does this make sense and if so what should i look out for when i pick up the car. Also, does this mean you can not drive through any water over 5inches deep?
2005 545i, sport package.

I hope that's not at your expense.
| | Reply » Engine Seizure | Well, our cars do sit low so I guess water water got slopped up onto and into the engine. Why on earth would you drive through such deep water with such a nice car...that water line must've been over the bottom of the doors, too! I think maybe you are lucky if the engine replacement is on BMW's dime. I don't know that there is anything special to look for when you get your car back...just make sure the darn things works like it did before you drove through a lake.
