I am considering buying a 550i with sports package, but I need some advise. I like the sports package and wonder if I will have problems getting some snow tires for it. I live in Southern VA and will just need these from December to March or so. How will the sports suspension work with winter tires? Since the SP has run flats, do I need to get a set of wheels for the winter tires? I considered the 530xi, but I know I will not be happy with the V6. Any advise from anyone with experience with either the 550 or 545 with sports package will be appreciated. Thanks!

Blizzaks are supposed to rule but check www.tirerack.com for sizes they have. You might need to purchase some cheapie rims to put them on. Kind of a pain for you snow town folks.

Hello My Friend:
First, you will need to get snows with a smaller rim/tire. Defeats the purpose in getting them if you keep the 19" or 18" you sport.
I change my Summers every year around late November.
If this is your first RWD vehicle especially a BMer, I recommend you go to tirerack.com, choose winter, enter your specs and go with some set of decent rims and snows.
I like Blizzaks and Continentals Run-Flats. Stay away from Michelins. (No performace and they don't stick!)
Oh, the performance will not be hindered unless you are trying to drive like it summer time but I know that is not the case for you... Just make sure if you buy snows you get the performance tires.

I also need winter tires, I will go with blizaks, I also found 18" replica rims same as the ones my car will come with for 400.00. Anybody have a suggestion if should bye them or not?

Hey Gman.
This being my first car that I've owned, why would 19 or 18 inch rims defeat the purpose of getting snow tires, or all weather tires?
