we should be grateful we're not paying a ton more for a car, much less bmw

visiting my family in bolivia, i only saw ONE or two 3 series cars. why is that?

with a price tag beginning at 50,000 dollars us, its kind of hard not to. i almost cried. thats a price tag of an m3 (m3 goes for 80,000 beginning)

lets be thankful we can purchase new cars as cheap as $10,000

Compared to Denmark and Finland, Bolivia sounds like to be bargain.

The price tag of an E90 330i manual is $105.000 in Denmark

Where in Bolivia?

I don't remember seeing too many when I was there about a year ago.

We have a similar situation in Mexico.

A few months ago my dad ordered a 330i which should be delivered next week; it will be the first 330i E90 to be sold in the state. The car will be a little over $51K USD, he could have bought an M3 for that price in the US. An M3 runs for $78K USD in Mexico, $55K will get you a used M3.

Take into account that the average income tends to be significantly lower in this country than in the US so BMWs become significantly more expensive. Its annoying to know we are paying more for the exact same car but it keeps the numbers low and you don't see a BMW every day.

Some countries are worse. Some countries have a 100% duty on foreign cars, so you end up paying at least DOUBLE.

Other countries have a duty based on displacement, so big engine cars can end up costing as much as 3X what the real price is.
