Has anyone ever received a message on the idrive system of a clutch overheat warning!

I was driving in auto mode, when the car started to bog and I received a clutch overheat message.

I called bmw and they told me to shut the car off and restart - it solved the problem but I'm scared it might not be a computer error? Can anyone assist? Thanks
