Well I had my less than 1 month old, less than 1000 mile 05-545i in for repairs at the dealer earlier this week because my driver side rear window was acting up. Well apparently during the removal and reinstallation of the door panel they added a nice scratch to my door jam. Unfortunately you can also see the scratch even when the door is closed. Now the dealer at least admitted they made the mistake and offered to obviously pay to have it fixed but Christ…I don't want my door jam painted already! So they just used some touch up paint for now and I guess I'm living with it. But my question is...they agree they I deserve some compensation. I was curious to what anyone suggests. I thought about asking for an extended warranty, or a free "clear bra".
What else? TIA!

Quote: | Man, it's really unfortunate that everyone thinks I am being greedy. I just don't want my d@mn car painted when I've only had it for a freakin month. Even "touchup" paint jobs from a BMW dealer are NEVER as good as factory paint. NOTHING is. All I need is some suggestions on "fair" alternatives to repainting. Anyone please? | I don't know how good your BMW Body Shop is but JMK BMW did some paint work on my 2001 330ci and it came out perfect and I mean just like original. I had a independent look at the work and they couldn't tell the difference. IMO Go for the paint job even if the car is only one month old. Good luck cheers vern

Quote: | Rob325_in_AZ, I could certainly take some pics but I think I will be able to live with the touchup paint that the dealer applied to the area as an alternative to getting the entire door jam repainted. I mean unless you look closely or open my rear driver side door you can't really see the imperfections. That's basically why I am soliciting suggestions on alternative means of compensation from my dealer. Do you think it is appropriate to let the dealer simply apologize and think that everything is ok when things like this happen to customers without them having to sacrificing something for their mistakes? | Yes I do; and I repeat this is the kind of thing that gives us BMW owners the reputation of being greedy bastards. You admit it is hardly noticible yet you yammer on how you should be compensated.
Your self justifications are the same reasons we hear for lawsuit settlements for hot coffee spilling in someone's lap driving up everyones insurance rates and doing nothing but upsetting legitimate companys and lining lawyers pockets.
