Should I cancel my order?
I have a 530xi on order. It was ordered on 7/29 and finished production on 8/26 and is now awaiting transportation. I'm not sure if it will have the updates of the start/stop button and the improved DSC. Should I cancel this order and upgrade to one of the ones that will have the Sept changes? The more I think about it, the more I feel like I don't want to buy a brand new 2006 model and have it be outdated the minute it arrives. What is the price difference between those ordered before changes and after? And if a '06 model doesn't have the updates, will it be worth less in trade later?

Well, after finally getting confirmation that the original vehicle ordered would not have the Sept changes on it, I had the dealer re-order the car. It will be a big pain in the rear since we already sold our other car, but I just could not rationalize getting a brand new '06 car for 55K and having it out dated upon arrival.
The dealer was not happy, and neither was I, but I felt it had to be done. After initially telling me he would only reorder for an upcharge of $1500  , we had a -ehem- "discussion  " and it was re-ordered for the difference in the late July/early Aug price increase.
So if anyone wants a 2006xi 4dr sedan, olivine green, comfort seats, park distance control, rear sun shades, prem pkg, prem sound pkg, cold weather pkg, auto trans, but wihtout the Sept upgrades --- I know a dealer that will probably be inspired to move one.

You made the right move!!! Who the hell wants to order and pay for a new car when the features of the car are actually not up to date!!! Have fun with it

I say if you have the patience, you made the right move. I too requested a September build car to get the latest and greatest, even if the changes are minor. Also remember there is also that update that the verticle slats on the kidney grill will all be chrome too.

BELIEVE it or not, you can never catch up. Our September builds are even the latest and greatest for 2006, since you MP3 Capbilities start in the OCTOBER BUILD! HA!
I would have never know about these changes as early as I did without Bimmerfest.com. My salesperson would have never had told me in time.
