 Freakin window buttons

[RANT]
I love my 04 545, but those freakin window buttons drive me crazy. I've had the car over a year, and still every time I go to open the windows, I pull the toggle down instead of pushing it in. Yes, I may be a little brain damaged, but I'm conditioned by the way every other car's window switches work, and this isn't the only car I drive, so I can't get used to it. No question here, really, except for - is it just me, or does everyone think the buttons are backwards?

And, while I'm ranting - I sure wish there was somewhere to put down my cell phone, sunglasses, etc.

Other than that, the car is perfect!

I think manufacturers changed to this 'Push Concept' for quite a while now.. Reason is safety...believe it or not, the traditional button killed kids before. They had their heads out the window while the feet was pushing the button forward... The new design prevents this from happening...

I agree with that one. Our dog used to trap his head in the window on the old Volvo. He'd get his head outside, step on the armrest to get a better view and the next thing we'd hear is him choking from the back seat. He was never very bright.

Huh! That's the first I've heard of that. At least it's a better explanation than that the designers at BMW were brain-dead. I haven't seen this in other cars, though. My wife's 05 Toyota Sienna Minivan, which was designed specifically for kid transport, doesn't work like this, neither did her last minivan. I just push the button to disable the window controls in the back. I thought I was just keeping them from annoying me - I didn't know I was saving their lives!

Really?

My '04 Sequoia's windows work just like my BMW's.

Yes...a lot of cars I've seen in recent years have the push down-pull up design: Audi/MB/Nissan/Mazda/...even my friends Corolla!!
