I'd like to see how many of you out there treat other bmw drivers better, and in a related poll (that I will also post) I want to see how many of you feel you get treated better by other BMW drivers (as opposed to the usual rudeness). In my area at least, I've found that bimmers are more likely to let me in when changing lanes, less likely to tailgate me, and less likely to honk when I do something stupid (like cut them off w/o looking). In turn I extend the same courtesy to other BMW drivers. If some guy in a 7 cuts me off while talking on his cell, I'm much less likely to honk or flash my high beams than if the driver is in a lexus. If I see bmw's trying to merge, I'm more likely to pull back and give them space... etc, that kind of stuff. Is this stupid? Do the rest of you do the same? I'd like to know  |

The car does not determine if the driver is a douchebag or not.
In fact, if a BMW driver changes lanes without signalling or cuts me off or weaves around a string of cars, I probably am extra-annoyed with him/her because he/she perpetuates the negative stereotype of the BMW driver.
I will, on the other hand, be much more likely to notice another BMW, and since they have more of my attention, I'll be more defensive and be less likely to trap them behind another vehicle as I pass.
Overall, I don't treat other drivers differently unless it's a friend.

I realized many years ago that I should try as hard as possible to ignore what type of car people are driving. For example, there's no reason I should feel insulted by a Kia blowing by me at 90 mph on the highway, I try to think of it as just another douchebag looking to get a ticket. By the same token, I see no reason to try and think more favorably of BMW drivers.

I was driving a different car (not a BMW) the other day and this guy in an e36 passed me and cut me off.  Would it make any difference if I was in my e46? I doubt it. A jackass driver will always be a jackass driver in any car.

I try to be equally courteous out there to all vehicles whenever possible... that said... I've had plenty of other Bimmer drivers tailgate me, cut me off and just be total maroons around me.
