Wait Time
Odered my 530Xi on August 18. I was told 6 weeks for delivery. It is already two and the owners circle site (which I dont think tells much) says it is still on order. Does anyone know approximately how long this will take my guess is more like 8 weeks until delivery is that a fair estimate. What were some other wait times in the New York area? It truly is killing me, this will be my first BMW and of course all I see on the road now is BMW's. | | Reply » Wait Time | Quote: | When did the order for your car get palced and what dealer did you go to? My order was placed on or about August 20 and I am receiving preliminary estimates as to end of October early November delivery (October 3rd build date). I am aware that the dealer status plays a part and also the amount of cars allotted. I am getting one of the cars from the dealers allocation but not sure as too what a normal wait would be. This dealer is not that big although they did have a decent amount of cars in thier inventory. Curious as to the size of your dealership. | I put my order into the dealer on August 19th. This was a custom order, since I wanted the Logic 7 Premium Sound . I told him I wanted a September Build vehicle with the latest and greatest changes. On August 29th he gave me my production number (those were the longest 10 days in between! HA!).
I checked online and I was scheduled for production. I checked often for the next week and I was still at the same status (even today it's still the same). I asked my dealer when was the estimated production date and he said 9/6. Then I was reminded by this great forum that I could call BMW USA Customer Relations and has much more details. They told me my car completed production on 9/6 and today I called them again and now it's AWAITING Transport at the Docks in Germany. The customer service person then told me it will take 4 weeks or sooner to get to my dealership from here, since it has to find a boat to go on now, then transport time on the boat, then VPC inspection, then delivery to my dealer.
I utilize Princeton BMW in NJ for my last 3 vehicles and I believe they are a Mid-Size Dealer?
Hope this above info helps and this waiting is the hardest part. The key is to check with BMW USA Customer Service first, since they seem to have all the info.
| | Reply » Wait Time | That does help quite a bit. Sounds like we went in around the same time. My production number was given tp me on the 26th of August. However, when I last checked with BMWNA the production date is not until Oct 3. They indicated that it could be sooner since it was not a confirmed date. It is a custom build also, silver grey, black interior, sport, Nav, Satellite Radio, Cold Weather, Premium Package, Premium Sound, Auto.
I guess my dealership must be a lower volume dealer since these were entered in pretty close together August 18 signed order with dealer yet production well later than yours. Took one of the dealers allocation but they just must not rate that high with BMWNA. I guess with the agressive pricing and the fact that they have guaranteed my trade value regardless of delivery I just need to be patient and grin and bear it. Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the input. | I pretty much got the same configuration you did, except for the Cold Weather, Sat Radio and Sport Package. I don't understand how your production can be well over 1 month later (but like you said it could all be about allocation). I too received aggressive pricing (mostly because I was a repeat customer) and also my trade in was also guarenteed upon delivery and was told delivery is typically 6-8 weeks. Maybe your dealer is doing so well that they have already filled their September allocation spots with other orders. Who knows how this works!?
| | Reply » Wait Time | Any delivery updates from the rest of you with vehicles on order? Mine is EN ROUTE, shipped from the German port on 9/9/05 and will arrive in the states on / around 9/22/05 according to BMW Customer service. I know this not much time to wait, but it still feels like eternity of course!
