 Break In Period

Does anyone know what the proper break in period and procedure is for a new bmw?

In the Owners Guide it says to keep the RPM below 4,000 and vary your speed (don't use cruise control) for the first 1200 miles.

Its not sooooo bad, the car will still go at least 120mph and stay under 4,000 RPM's (I know from experience in my 530, I imagine the 550 would do a little more ). The most important thing to do is vary the RPM's, if you don't do that, your car could turn into an oil burner. Hence why its not a good idea to use cruise during break in.

If your leasing drive it however you want. If you own it then you might want to follow the break-in instructions
