 IPod and Monster ICruze

Hi All,
Contrary to what I have see on this board, my dealer claims that I cannot install an aux/input jack for an IPod on my '04 E60 I am currently looking at the option of using Monster's ICruze based upon the recommendation of my local electronics store rep. Any input or feedback is greatly appreciated.

Don't know for sure, but I suspect your dealer is incorrect. Attached is the installation instructions for the aux input for the E60. Your dealer may be confusing the iPod connector (which is available for some BMW models, but not the E60 yet) with the aux input, which allows connection of any audio device with a mini stereo output.

Here's a link to the aux input install instructions:

And one to pix of my hardwire iPod install:

Monster's ICruze (http://www.monstercable.com/icruze/c...p2_Results.asp) seems like a very good alternative, from what I understands it emulates the CD changer so you can navigate 6 playlists using the car's controls and avoiding the need for the remote control. Seems pretty seamless, ofcourse assuming that it is compatible with the car.

Your dealer is incorrect. AUX In is easily installed on your car. Parts are less than $100 and about one to two hours of labor (some minor reprogramming is required).

Are you sure? I have never heard of programming to accept the AUX connection.

Refer to page 6 of the instructions. It states that the car must be encoded or reprogrammed to recognize the AUX IN using DISPlus. It took longer in my car to complete the encoding than to isntall the hardware.
