Arrgh, too many choices!
Live in Central - Northern Virginia. Am all set to pick out an Xi for the AWD but have been reading about many who prefer the RWD i with all season tires or a second snow set.
Also--leather vs leatherette....any inputs???? Is it worth the additional $2K? Crazy as this sounds--I'll have another 24 months of CARSEATS--and although I like leather--it does wear with age.
Help!?

I just sold my 99 Merc E320 with leather seats and they looked as good as the day the car was purchased. I am picking up a 530xi in two weeks. It seemed to me the slight lose in mileage was made up for in bad weather conditions. Changing tires for the seasons and storing the extra set in the garage sucks.

Look at them both at the dealer and decide yourself. I have both, and with carseats (and then another few years of sticky childsize fingers) I would choose leatherette. Less wear, easier cleaning. Leather is nice in principle, but it isn't as if it is nice leather. Take the 2k and buy some nice leather jackets or shoes.

Leather has better resale value...you hardly ever hear of a BMW that doesn't have a leather interior. Vinyl just doesn't say "luxury" no matter what you call it or how "better" it is (durable, stain resistant, etc.).

Help!? | I opted with the leatherette since my other car has leather and it seems to change colors depending on what you wear, specially beige. I also heard that leatherette is cooler. When people ask wether I have one or the other, I just tell them "Leather of course" As far as resale goes I don't really worry about it, it is not my car anyways. I preffered upgrading to Nav. than pay for leather. BMW should really include leather considering the price. May luxury cars like Lexus already include leather as standard.
