I got a 2004 530i SMG and it does not have nav or functioning bluetooth. The bluetooth thing seems to be the most annoying part. My 530i came with a "Bluetooth card" that had all the bluetooth IDs/serial numbers - but it does not work - I don't even see an option on my iDrive. If they have a retro kit to get it working - I'd be happy to get one. Another thing I wish i got was the nav system But I did not... is this something that can be put in later? So far the dealers say no for both bluetooth and nav... but I have a feeling they just don't want to look at service bulletins to find out for sure.  |

PS. I did spend much time googling and have not found any useful info. It would be great to just hand the dealer some document and say, "please look at this"!

When was your car manufactured? If it was before March 2004, you can get Bluetooth only with a new TCU. If it was after March 2004, a software update is all you will need. Also, with NAV, you can get it installed only if your car came with NAV prep.

I'm sure it was before March 2004... as I got my car in March 2004.
If I had to buy a TCU - then wouldn't that also mean I could buy a TCU that had the nav support?
Should I just give up and buy a 550i when they come out?

for those who are wondering.... yes BMW has kits for both nav and Bluetooth for 2004 530's...
The cost? Local BMW dealer says $2500, for each feature... Grand total is $5k-ish...
Perhaps I should just get a new one... :P
