I understand the 4yr/50000 mile maintenance does not include balancing/rotation or at least you should not wait a year to do this. How often should I rotate/balance/align car. I used to do it on my Maxima every oil change or every other. Do the BMW continental tires require me to rotate/balance at specific mileage intervals.

Under normal conditions, never.

BMW recomend NOT TO ROTATE. Read your owner manual for their reasons.
But you should balance your tires if you start feeling vibrations at medium to high speeds, regardless of how many mileage you have.

I recently rotated/balanced my tires because I was starting to see a bit of the unevenness on the rear and I had a NASTY shimmy - I think one of my wheel weights had fallen off.
Shimmy is now complete gone and I suspect the tires are now good for 5K more miles than they otherwise would have been.

Assuming your BMW has all the same tire, I'd rotate them every 5-10k. The V8s, however, usually come with staggered tires (i.e. the front and rears are different) and so rotating them can be expensive and time consuming and probably isn't worth since you can only swap a front with a front and a rear with a rear.

Bill | I would like to try to rotate the tire every 10k miles. This is what I have been doing with my Volvo. I will try that when my car reach 10k miles and see any strange things happen while driving.
