 530xiT questions

Greetings -

I am on the verge of closing the deal on my first (and dreamcar, at that ) BMW - a 530xiT (manual) w/ sport, premium, and cld wthr. I have two questions:

1) since this is 2006 model, is the DSC+ (w/ hill-start, etc) standard on all, as opposed to a 9/1 production update for the entire 5-series line -would greatly appreciate info from owners of this car w/ manual tranny.

2) are people happy with their cars - reliability, performance, etc.

thanks in advance

daniel

I have a 06 530xiT (production month 5/05) and it has the hill assist. I works pretty cool, it basically keeps the brakes engaged for 2 seconds after you release the clutch. In the beginning it's kind of unnatural to drive away like you are *not* on a hill, but after a while you get the feeling... very handy...

as far reliability, I have my car for about a month now and had not had any issues...

The brakes engage when you release the clutch when *not* on a hill? That's got to lead to some pretty quick brake wear.

I have an '06 Xit as well. It is a pre-September production so does not include the September production updates. That means it does not have the "+" features like brake fade compensation and brake drying. It does have hill assist and hill descent control which is a feature of the x-Drive sedans and wagons.

I can't comment on performance yet as I'm still in mt break-in period but I can tell you that it's a blast to drive!
