Flexfan applications.
Reading the discussions on cooling systems and the time frame that everyone seems to upgrade and replace parts. I was wondering if anyone has considered using the engine driven fans manufactured by FlexFan? I have not investigated their applications charts and don't know if they even make a unit for Bimmers. If they do, the problem of plastic fans going south would be over. Our 98 528i has 77,000 miles on it and has not had a problem yet, but it is time for some replacement upgrades. Was thinking of the Zanesville radiator and Turner water pump and other items that you guys recommend changing out. Our car is a 5 speed manual and I thought while I have it up on the stands would change out the tranny fluid. Our 528 was manufactured in Feb of 98. It is my understanding that in 98 BMW changed tranny fluids from ATF to a synthetic? What problems if any would changing from ATF to a synthetic lube cause? Is it recommended? Thanks.
Patrick.
| | Reply » Flexfan applications. | Hey Sarge, I ran across your post while looking for information on Jimmy Hauck and couldn't resist saying hello. Hard to believe it's been 40 years since we jumped together in 1967. Do you have any idea where all the other guys are? Jimmy, Kimo, Beau Alexander, etc. I always regretted that I didn't get a copy of the 16mm movies we made. I'm living in Mission Viejo, CA. Would love to hear from you. If you get this reply, and you get a chance, email me at trogers1@cox.net just to say hello. Tom Rogers
